Dear Parents,
We want to welcome all of you to our Pre-school! It’s another
school year and some of you are new to us! We want to warmly welcome
you to our school. Returning parents, we are surely glad to have
all of you back!
Enclosed with this newsletter are several important items. Among
these we have enclosed the Pre-school’s Information Sheet
for 2008-2009. This sheet will give you an idea of some of the
things you’ll need to know for the year. The second enclosure
is the School Calendar for the year. Basically, our Pre-school
follows the Bemus Point School District’s calendar.
Please note: If the Bemus School System closes for a snow day,
so will our Pre-school. This school closure will also be announced
over radio stations WKSN and WJTN. Thanks for your attention to
these items.
We want all of you parents to know that the primary goal in our
Pre-school is your child and what is best for him or her. We have
set up the Pre-school with that in mind. Parents of first-time
students, please remember that Pre-school is a new experience
for your child. There may be tears and separation problems. We
are used to these. They are normal and pass with time. We are
very experienced with these problems and know how to handle them.
The tears will be harder on you than on your child. (They really
will!)
SCHOOL PICTURES: Again this year our school pictures will be taken
in the fall, in time for Christmas. Colorgraphics Studios of Rochester
will be taking pictures as follows:
Monday-Wednesday-Friday Classes: Wednesday, November 12
Tuesday-Thursday Classes: Thursday, November 13
You are welcome to have your other children’s pictures
taken on these picture days. They may be done together or individually.
In closing, we would like to recommend that you dress your child
in play clothes. We go out on our playground on nice days, as
well as the physical education program we do with the children.
(We do quite a bit of painting during the school year as well.)
Remember, if you have any questions regarding any of these items,
or about something I haven’t mentioned, please feel free
to ask us. I’m also available for calls at the Pre-school
after classes have been dismissed.
The phone number of the Pre-school is 484-0553 or 664-4301. After
office hours, you may leave a recorded message for me.
Thank you,
Stephanie Kolb
Director/Head Teacher
Some of you still need to give us your child’s record of
inoculations. We MUST have these as we must report to Albany by
the end of September with our student’s inoculations records.
Also, as we have already mentioned, NO child may attend Pre-school
in New York State without having these shots. Please get these
records to us immediately. Thanks!
BEHAVIOR POLICY:
The children at our Pre-school are not permitted to hit, bite
or pinch one another. If this behavior occurs, you as a parent
will be notified. If, after three warnings, your child is still
exhibiting these behaviors, you will be asked to withdraw him/her
from our program.
PROGRAMS:
The children will present a Christmas program in December (morning)
and a spring program (evening). Exact dates for these will be
announced in future newsletters.
PARTIES:
We will be having the following parties:
October Costume Party and Parade*
Christmas Party
Valentine’s Party
Easter Party
Stuffed Animal Parade and Party* (sometime late spring)
*Parents and others are welcome to come and watch our parades.
BIRTHDAY TREATS:
You are more than welcome to send birthday treats for your child’s
birthday—just ask for the number to send and let us know
that you are planning to send the treat.
DAILY SNACKS:
The Pre-school furnishes the daily snacks. We try to stay away
from treats which are loaded with sugar. However, if you would
rather your child did not have our snacks and kool-aid, please
feel free to send what you would prefer him/her to have for a
snack with them each day.
PLEASE NOTE: All snow days will be announced over radio stations
WJTN and WKSN. Our policy is that if the Bemus Point Central School
district is closed due to bad weather, so is our Preschool.

PRE-SCHOOL DAILY SCHEDULE
Our Pre-school has a structured learning program. This structured
program follows the following daily schedule:
First 50 minutes PLAYTIME
At different “play centers”
15 minutes PICK UP TIME
20 minutes MUSIC TIME—Songs & finger plays
20 minutes LEARNING CIRCLE
Pledge and patriotic songs; reading and math readiness; show
and tell;
counting
20 minutes ART
15 minutes SNACK AND REST TIME
15 minutes PLAYGROUND (indoor or outdoors, depending on weather)
10 minutes STORY TIME/PHYSICAL EDUCATION TIME
Alternating between physical education and stories. Physical
education
includes marching, aerobics, circle games.
End of session TIME TO GO HOME
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT CHILDREN BE PICKED UP AS CLOSE TO CLOSING
TIME AS POSSIBLE FOR MANY REASONS. FIRST OF ALL, A LATE PARENT
CAUSES THE CHILD TO WORRY; SECONDLY, OUR INSURANCE ONLY COVERS
CHILDREN DURING PRE-SCHOOL HOURS; AND THIRDLY, THE PRE-SCHOOL
DIRECTOR NEEDS TO BEGIN PICKING UP AND GETTING ORGANIZED FOR THE
NEXT DAY’S CLASSES.
WE APPRECIATE YOUR COOPERATION IN THIS MATTER.

PRE-SCHOOL TUITION POLICY
1. TUITION FOR THE STUDENT IS DUE WEEKLY: It must be paid on
the FIRST
DAY of the week that your child attends.
2. YOU MAY ELECT TO PAY MONTHLY: This is encouraged, but is
not required.
If you elect to pay monthly, the tuition must be paid THE FIRST
WEEK of the
month. (If you have elected to pay monthly, but for some reason
do not pay
during the first week of the month, then tuition must be paid
weekly at the
beginning of each week.)
3. SNOW DAYS: There will be no charge for the FIRST snow day.
However, we will
have to charge for additional snow days. Our budget cannot absorb
more than one
day (most Pre-Schools charge tuition for all snow days.)
4. SCHEDULED HOLIDAYS & TEACHER INSERVICE DAYS: You will
not be
charged for any scheduled holidays or teacher in-service days.
SEE THE
ATTACHED SCHOOL CALENDAR.
5. TUITION IS CHARGED FOR ALL DAYS YOUR CHILD IS ENROLLED FOR…
whether they attend that day or not. (If you choose to go on vacation
or if your
child stays home sick, you are still responsible for tuition payment
for those days
missed.)
6. PAYMENT: You may pay your child’s tuition by check.
However, should your
check be returned for non-sufficient funds, you will be responsible
to cover the
$18.00 chargeback fee the bank charges our account. If the bank
refuses your
check two times, you must cover that payment by cash, as well
as the chargeback
fees.
7. PARENTS: This year we must request that tuition payments
be paid according to the rules set forth in the previous statements.
I do not know if all of you realize this or not , but our ONLY
source of operating expenses (salaries, art supplies food, toys
and equipment) is the daily tuition and registration monies. When
even one or two families don’t follow our payment guidelines,
it makes it impossible to meet our expenses. We staff according
to the number of children we have enrolled.
Thank you for cooperating in this matter!
Thank you,
Stephanie Kolb
